What causes a bulging disc?
New research from the Biomechanics Dept. at Yale University says trauma causes bulging disc. The trauma can be either a large single trauma, or many smaller ones. The trauma causes damage to the muscle, ligaments, tendons, and nerves which causes increased muscle activity, increasing the pressure on the disc. This increased pressure will dehydrate the disc, further lowering it's ability to withstand pressure. Once this cycle starts, sooner or later the disc can't handle any more and it will suddenly swell and bulge causing your back pain. When you add the fact that gravity is always increasing the pressure on the disc, it is no wonder that back pain is over a 100 BILLION DOLLAR a year problem. The article is "A hypothesis of chronic back pain: Ligament subfailure injuries lead to muscle control dysfunction" by Monohar Panjabi, President of the Biomechanics Dept. of Yale Medical School. We have all had large and small traumas and we all live with gravity. Now you can see how pills and shots don't work. They can't remove the pressure. Surgery can remove the pressure but it comes at too high a cost. Call us at 601-483-2500 and let us take away the increasing pressure on your disc before, during, or after your back pain with NO PILLS, NO SHOTS, and NO SURGERY!
